We were in Ankeny for a family funeral which of course colors my perspective on the town, but my impression is that it is a growing and booming town. My family who is from the area said it's much bigger now than it used to be. Traffic can be a little bit overwhelming. There are a lot of delicious restaurants. We didn't actually try to find anything else to do because we were there for a specific purpose.

I liked the large selection to choose from when dining out and shopping in Ankeny. I also like that proximity to Des Moines, since I have family in both Ankeny and Des Moines. Having access to the freeway nearby was convenient. I enjoyed the lake view behind my hotel on SE Tones Dr. About the only thing I didn't like was having so much traffic in Ankeny.

The pool was good. Our room was dirty. We had to finish making the coffee on our first morning. Our key did not work for the outside door keypads. Our keys stopped working and we had to get new ones. Two rooms were ransacked by previous tenants down the hall from us and the doors were left open for other to see the mess.

If you stay in a hotel near or at the same one I did. It’s super close to everything. Food, stores and Adventureland were all less than 12 min away. Food and stores were about a 4 min drive. So it was super convenient. There is also Casey’s open 24hrs just in case you need something. There’s not anything bad about ankeny!

Customer service up front was great , No bedding for pull out couch had to wait 1/2 hr for it .All in All it was a busy weekend for them state volleyball for kids . Couldn't use the outdoor with the fireplace
